DMCA Act
The DCMA, or the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 as it’s known, provides recourse for owners of copyrighted material where they believe that their property has been illegally reproduced.
Under the DCMA law, if material is used without permission of the webmaster, the webmaster may contact the ISP of the website where the infringement took place and request for them to block that site.
Any formal complaints must be filed in accordance to the DMCA and if the action taken by the webmaster or ISP against the accused party is counter-notified, then the ban on the ISP may be lifted.
